COOKING, SERVING DELICIOUS FOODS AND ENTERTAINING good friends has been a passion of mine since I was young. Because my father was a backyard chef, I have wonderful memories of gatherings with neighbors, family and friends eating his famous barbeque chicken. My mother Elly and I would hand chop the cabbage for the delicious cole slaw, cook the potatoes augratin, and then bake a yummy dessert like pecan pie or chocolate cake – simple food, and so delicious. Relatives and friends loved to be invited to my parent’s home for all of life’s occasions, or just because.

Since 1984, that same spirit of hospitality has been alive at Janie’s Table. Our new name, Janie’s Table, seems to better fit our mission...to have friends gather at our table. I hope you will enjoy the new menu items, the new look, and sense of renewal.

Originally built in Martindale in 1917, our restaurant was a family constructed General Store that has served patrons for almost a century. After you taste the barbeque you’ll know Janie’s Table will be here for another hundred years. Wherever you are coming from, you’ll find delicious homecooked food and Texas hospitality. We serve Texas food and Texas beverages, including the very best margaritas.
